Why Sisu?
Sisu Knitwear creates knitting patterns, books and magazines shaped by Nordic nature, Finnish resilience, and Sámi and Nordic cultural heritage. Each design is made for life in the north, combining warmth, thoughtful construction and Scandinavian aesthetic.
The Norwegian founder and designer Christina Einvik began knitting in 2005. Growing up close to her Finnish grandmother gave her a deep connection to Finnish culture, and to the meaning behind Sisu: courage, perseverance, and the strength to continue when something feels difficult.
From the North
With a background in photography and graphic design, Christina brings a strong visual sensibility to every pattern. Inspired by the wild landscapes of Finnmark, the place she comes from, and the stories carried through her family, she creates knitwear rooted in the north.
Sisu Knitwear was established during the pandemic, when unexpected time opened the door to deeper creative work. In late 2020, the Tromsø Hoodie was released in collaboration with VG and MinMote.
The pattern quickly gained popularity and helped establish Sisu as a recognizable name in the Norwegian knitting community.
In 2022, Christina published Strikk fra nord, which topped national bestseller lists for several weeks. This was followed by Barnestrikk fra nord in 2024, continuing the recognizable visual language of Sisu’s first book.
One stitch at a time
Today, the Sisu community continues to grow through new patterns, books and ideas. 120+ knitting patterns has been released by now, and new designs are waiting to meet your knitting needles in the future.
Every design carries the same belief: knitting is not only about the finished garment, but about patience, progress, and the quiet satisfaction of slowly making something by hand.
